Despite playing away, the Brussels team Union Saint Gilloise (USG) was on top form as they secured a decisive victory over OH Louvain on Saturday – their third this season against the team.

Goals came from Casper Terho (21st), Cameron Puertas (34th), Dennis Eckert Ayensa (65th, 74th) and Gustaf Nilsson (90th+8), giving USG maximum points (9). Leuven reduced the gap through Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson, who scored in the 38th minute.

Following the departures of Bart Nieuwkoop (Feyenoord) and Senne Lynen (Werder Bremen), USG manager Alexander Blessin put his faith in Terho and Lazare Amani. Brussels took the lead thanks to a long-range shot from Terho (21st, 1-0). With his back to goal, Puertas boosted Union’s confidence even further by brushing aside Siebe Schrijvers before firing home with his right foot (34th, 2-0).

The second half came with two penalties awarded for fouls by Schrijvers on Puertas and Dom on Terho; both of these were converted into goals by German striker Dennis Eckert. Nilsson came on in place of Eckert and scored a third penalty awarded for a foul by Hamza Mendyl on Guillaume François.
