A Russian fighter jet crashed during a training flight on Saturday in the Russian Baltic Sea enclave of Kaliningrad, killing its crew, according to Russian authorities.
“The crew of the plane was killed,” the Russian defence ministry said, quoted by Interfax. The ministry did not give a precise figure. The plane is believed to be a Sukhoi Su-30, a two-seater.
The defence ministry did not specify where the plane crashed. However, it was reportedly flying over an uninhabited area when it encountered technical problems.

Russian fighter jets have crashed several times on their own territory due to technical problems since Russia invaded Ukraine 17 months ago. In October 2022, an SU-34 fighter-bomber crashed into a residential building in the town of Ieïsk, in southern Russia. A dozen people were killed.
