Two people ejected from fairground ride in critical condition
Flying carpets are popular attractions at fairs the world over.

Seven people were injured on Sunday afternoon, two of them critically, after a door opened on a flying-carpet ride at La Hestre Fair, in Manage, Hainaut.

Manage Mayor Bruno Pozzoni said on Monday that "one person remains in a worrying state.”

“Apparently, the safety barrier on the ride opened and the flying carpet was made safe, but several people were thrown to the ground,” Pozzoni said earlier. “The victims fell from a height of two to three metres," he added. "Seven people were injured, two of them more seriously."

All the victims were treated by the ambulances on site before being taken to hospital, and they were all conscious.

The cause of the accident has not yet been determined.

“The police services dispatched to the scene were due to hear from the fairground owner to find out more about the causes,” the mayor said.
