Seven arrests, including one judicial arrest, were made on Monday during the first day of the 15 August festivities in Outremeuse, Liège police said at midday on Tuesday.

The traditional 15 August festivities got underway on Monday in the Cité ardente, bringing the people of Liège together for several days of festivities. Over the course of a week, dozens of activities are planned: flea markets, concerts, games, fairs and masses and folk processions. However, seven arrests have already been made.

"Everything took place in a convivial spirit. At most, our services made six administrative arrests for public disorder and drunkenness, as well as one judicial arrest," a spokesperson for the Liège police said.

Red Cross first-aid workers also attended to 22 people. Three revellers were transferred to hospitals in Liège.
