One person was seriously injured on Wednesday in an explosion at a house in Lokeren, East Flanders, local authorities reported. The blast was followed by a fire. Damage to the home is extensive.
The incident took place at around 14:30 in a terraced house on Leeuwerikstraat in Lokeren. The cause of the fire has not yet been officially established but it appears to be the result of a gas explosion.
The emergency services were called to the scene and a victim with serious burns was taken to hospital.
