Flemish Minister for Mobility, Lydia Peeters, was injured in a rear-end collision on Monday morning, Het Belang van Limburg reports.

The Minister was travelling on the E314 motorway towards Leuven at exit 30 towards Genk at 08:20 when her vehicle was struck from behind, a spokesperson from her party confirmed. The Minister was travelling towards the Open VLD party office.

At the time of the accident, there was a traffic jam. The car behind her vehicle did not notice the stopped car in front, crashing into the vehicle. The Limburg Federal Traffic Police quickly responded to the accident and moved the two cars into the emergency lane.

The Minister is suffering from suspected whiplash and was transported to the hospital as a precaution. Peeters was later able to return home. She has now cancelled all her upcoming appointments, a party spokesperson said.
