Flanders will send €200,000 in emergency aid to Morocco via the Flemish Red Cross following Friday's earthquake, the region's Minister-President Jan Jambon announced on Saturday.

"Flanders sympathises with all those affected by the terrible earthquake in Morocco," Jambon wrote on X (formerly Twitter). "We are already allocating €200,000 in rapid emergency aid via @RodeKruisVL [the Flemish Red Cross]. Our thoughts are with the many victims, relatives and their families."

A devastating earthquake struck Morocco on Friday night, causing huge damage and spreading panic in Marrakech and several other cities. At least 820 people are estimated to have died.
