Belgian startup WOSH offers sustainable laundry cleaning and delivery services in Brussels, Leuven and Ghent through a few quick taps on their application.

Think Deliveroo, but for your dirty laundry.

In their own words

"I thought it was a brilliant idea," Maxime Geurts told The Brussels Times of when his co-founder, Tom Mahaut, suggested the concept to him. Back then they were both just 22 years old.

Mahaut's family was already several generations deep into the laundry industry when he decided that there was still room for innovation. Geurts, on the other hand, was looking for a job during Covid. They met through common acquaintances and the spark was immediate. WOSH launched just two months later.

The benefits for users are obvious – customers can sign up and plan a laundry and/or dry-cleaning order completely through the application – but WOSH promises environmental benefits, as well.

The startup claims to use 50% less water, 35% less chemicals (by using biodegradable dry cleaning solvent) and 25% less energy than traditional laundry activities, in addition to the fact that only electric vehicles, like scooters and bikes, are used for pick-ups and deliveries.

"Of course it costs us a bit more, but we thought it was important," Geurts explained.

Plans for scaling up

While WOSH mostly employs students for their pick-ups and deliveries, their main customers are expats and families with two working parents and young children, though they also work with companies that provide their laundry service as a perk for their employees. And business has clearly been looking good.

"We hope to continue our expansion this year and hopefully next year as well," Geurts confirmed. "I'm not going stay too much right now, but going international is definitely on our agenda."
