A fire broke out in the early hours of Saturday at a warehouse in Molenbeek, reported the Brussels firefighters.
Fire crews were called at 2:45 a.m. to tackle the blaze in a four-storey building, the ground floor of which housed a warehouse. Residents of the first two floors were evacuated using a ladder, the third floor was unoccupied, and the fourth was beyond the reach of the smoke.
One individual suffered mild smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The building was not equipped with smoke detectors, according to the firefighters.
