Police seek witnesses to murder in Rue Wayez, Anderlecht

Police are seeking witnesses to a fatal shooting in Anderlecht, Brussels-Midi police spokesperson Sarah Frederickx said on Monday, confirming a report by Sudinfo and Mediahuis newpapers.

According to Sudinfo, a man was shot 17 times with a Kalashnikov in his car in Rue Wayez on Wednesday night.

The shooting was confirmed by the police. “Our services were called at around 01:10 a.m. on Thursday to Rue Wayez in Anderlecht to report a shooting,”  Ms. Frederickx explained.  “The victim died on the spot as a result of his injuries."

“The suspects fled and a vehicle was found burnt further on," the spokesperson added. "The Federal Judicial Police laboratory arrived on the scene and the Federal Judicial Police are conducting the investigation.”

According to Sudinfo, the crime was committed by four men who then fled in a car. Their burning vehicle was found on Rue de la Semence in Anderlecht.
