European gas prices rose by more than 6% on Monday after a possible leak in a Baltic Sea pipeline.

A loss of pressure occurred on Saturday evening in an undersea pipeline between Finland and Estonia, which could indicate a leak. The reason for the incident is not yet known and an investigation has been launched.

The price of gas is also rising in the wake of oil prices, which have soared due to the escalation of violence in Israel and Palestine.

On the main Dutch futures market, natural gas was trading at more than €40 per megawatt-hour, up more than 6% on Friday.
