The Euro 2024 qualifying match between Belgium and Sweden was halted at half-time due to the terror attack taking place in Brussels' Sainctelette district, which claimed the lives of two Swedes on Monday evening.

"We are deeply saddened, almost brought to tears," stated Swedish coach Janne Andersson during a press conference at the King Baudouin Stadium.

"We received this shocking news at half-time," Andersson continued. "The players were devastated and didn't wish to continue. What kind of world are we living in? Recently, there's been an increase in gun-related incidents. We extend our condolences to the families of the victims."

Swedish captain Victor Lindelöf revealed that the Swedish team quickly consulted with the Red Devils, Belgium's national team. "We jointly decided not to continue with the match. The Belgians also believed it was the only viable decision. Our main concern is the safety of the fans," said the Manchester United defender.
