The Muslim Council of Belgium quickly condemned the Brussels terrorist attack on Monday evening that claimed two lives.
In the incident, a man opened fire in the center, killing two Swedish football supporters and critically wounding another. The attacker, who declared allegiance to ISIS on social media, remains at large at the time of writing on Monday night.
"The Muslim Council of Belgium and the ministers of the Muslim faith will redouble their efforts to counter this deadly extremism and its devastating impact," the council stated.

Extending their deepest condolences to the victims' families, they urged "solidarity, vigilance, as well as restraint and a refusal to stigmatise during these challenging times."
Meanwhile, the Assembly of Muslims of Belgium also expressed their condolences to the victims and their families, strongly condemning the "cowardly, heinous, and despicable act."
"We express our complete compassion and solidarity with the victims' families and call for a united and supportive front," the Assembly added. "By remaining firm, vigilant, and true to our values of unity and brotherhood, we will overcome terrorism, hatred, and barbarism, no matter the source."
The organisation emphasised that Monday's attack "in no way represents Muslims and is entirely opposite to the values of peace, coexistence, and human fraternity promoted by Islam."
