The Carrefour group announced on Thursday the withdrawal from sale of its brand oysters from Brittany, sold in the fish section of some of its stores in Belgium.

Consumers are asked to return the product to their point of sale due to the potential presence of E. Coli bacteria.

This product recall concerns Carrefour brand Bretagne N3 12-piece oysters, sold between 13 and 17 October, with a use-by date of 22/10/2023. These oysters were sold in Carrefour hypermarkets in Mons Grands Prés, Auderghem and Bomerée.

Carrefour advises people who have purchased this product not to consume it and to destroy it or return it to the point of sale, where it will be refunded.

“People who have consumed this product and are experiencing intestinal problems are advised to consult their GP and inform him or her of their consumption,” Carrefour said in a press release. “These symptoms may be aggravated in young children, pregnant women, immunocompromised subjects and the elderly,” the group said.

For further information, the company’s customer service department can be contacted on 0800/9.10.11, Monday to Saturday, from 8.30am to 8.00pm.
