The high season might be over, but the Sax, a boat operated by Dinant Évasion, is setting sail on an exciting gastronomic adventure.

This innovative concept, known as the "chefs' boat," has emerged from a collaboration between boat owner Olivier Pitance and four esteemed restaurateurs from the Namur region. Over the course of four weeks, from Thursday to Sunday, the Sax will be magically transformed into a floating restaurant, offering an exquisite dining experience.

The culinary journey will commence on November 16 with the celebrated chef from CCnomie in Falmignoul, followed by the ABCD restaurant's culinary maestro in Beauraing from November 23. The Moma's renowned chef in Annevoie takes the helm from December 7th, and lastly, the Fermette's master chef in Falaën concludes the gastronomic adventure from December 14.

To partake in this unique experience, guests must book their cruise and select their desired menu. Lunch services are available on Thursdays and Sundays, with boarding between 12 pm and 12.45 p.m., followed by a cruise from 1 pm to 2 pm. The kitchens are open from 12 pm to 2 pm, and the boat closes its doors at 5 pm. For those seeking an evening rendezvous, Fridays and Saturdays are reserved for dinner services, with boarding between 6.30 pm and 7.45 p.m.

This concept is not the first of its kind in Dinant, as it harkens back to the previous offering of menus by the patron saint of the citadel, enjoyed in his cable car.

For a three-course meal, the cost is €70 per person, excluding drinks. To give you a glimpse of the culinary delights on offer, let's take a look at CCnomie's menu. The starter boasts a pheasant cake, gyoza featuring confit legs, foie gras, and carcass consommé. The main course is an Orloff doe medallion with a rich jus à la Croisette, complemented by an autumn garnish and truffle polenta. The grand finale is a pear and chestnut sphere served with whisky ice cream.

This gastronomic experience is not only about the food but also the ambiance. The creators have painstakingly crafted a "cozy" atmosphere on board. The lower deck hosts the dining room, while the upper deck transforms into a boudoir lounge with a digestif bar.

The magic happens when the four esteemed chefs prepare their menus in their own kitchens. Then, these culinary masterpieces are entrusted to Dinant Évasion's on-board brigade, who take charge of finalising the preparation, setting the plates, and serving them with finesse.

In essence, rather than a mere "chefs' boat," it's more apt to describe it as a catering service brought to life by four renowned culinary artisans, all for the pleasure and delight of the passengers aboard the Sax. It's an innovative concept that promises to elevate dining and cruising to new heights.
