Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo and Foreign Affairs Minister Hadja Lahbib are set to meet King Abdullah II of Jordan on Monday afternoon during a visit to Brussels, De Croo’s office confirmed.

King Abdullah’s visit to Brussels has long been on the cards, and the leader is also scheduled to meet NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and other European leaders.

A bilateral meeting is also scheduled for 16:30 with the Belgian Prime Minister and the heads of Belgian and Jordanian diplomacy—where they will discuss potential de-escalation of the situation in the Middle East.

On the 27th of October, a Jordan-led UN resolution was unanimously supported by Belgium, along with seven other EU countries, on behalf of 22 Arab nations at the General Assembly in New York.

The resolution called for an "immediate, lasting, and sustained humanitarian ceasefire" in the conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

The text also called for the "immediate and unconditional" release of all civilians held captive and demanded their security, welfare, and humane treatment to be protected in accordance with international law.
