A 20-year-old scooter rider arrested in Linkeroever, Antwerp on Wednesday, was found to be carrying 13 kilogrammes of fireworks.
Local police spotted the man due to his erratic behaviour while riding his electric scooter against traffic on the Beatrijslaan cycle track.
It had previously been reported that the area suffered from disturbances caused by fireworks and small explosives. It remains unclear if the scooter rider was responsible for these incidents.
The seized fireworks are to be destroyed in the near future.
