Police departments across Belgium grappled with considerable challenges on Friday due to a power outage and ongoing work at the Federal Police headquarters in Brussels, according to a report posted by Het Laatste Nieuws on its website.

“Many police zones and integrated police units were affected,” Federal Police spokesperson An Berger was quoted as saying. “Officers faced complications when checking the data of individuals they were inspecting.”

The difficulties also impacted operations at Zaventem and Charleroi airports.

By evening, the system was almost entirely back to normal. “We continue to monitor the situation closely,” Mrs Berger said.
