Around 60 students were exposed to freon gas on Tuesday morning at the Higher Education of the Province of Liège (HEPL), according to the local police.
The incident occurred at the campus Kurth of HEPL, located at Quai Godefroid Kurth. The affected students experienced discomfort and headaches after the gas entered through the ventilation.
Officials evacuated the building for safety checks, as per Liège police. The students were relocated to the Barbou campus, a short distance away.
The emergency plan was implemented, and by 12:30 on Tuesday, the leak was under control and normality resumed, albeit classes were cancelled for the day.
