Person stabbed on Wednesday in Schaerbeek is out of danger

A victim stabbed in the throat at Schaerbeek’s Liedts Square on Wednesday evening is no longer in critical condition, the Brussels’ public prosecutor’s office said on Thursday.

An investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify the assailant or assailants involved.

“Brussels-North police received a call at 16:00 on Wednesday concerning a knife fight in Liedts Square in Schaerbeek,” the prosecutor’s office said. “Upon arrival, the patrol found one person seriously wounded in the throat.

“The officers swiftly provided first aid and then transferred the victim to the hospital. Although initially critical, their condition is no longer life-threatening,” it added.
