Mobile, digital TV and internet prices are higher in Belgium than in all five of its neighbouring countries.

The latest study by Belgian electronic communications regulator (IBPT) shows Belgian consumers pay significantly more for either small or high volume packages.

Belgium is also by far the most expensive country when it comes to complete bundle packages (covering internet, digital TV, mobile and fixed-line telephony), which are highly sought after.

"In the context of high inflation, operators have made numerous adjustments to their services over the past year, both for mobile subscriptions and for fixed internet and bundle offers," IBPT says.

The Belgian regulatory body hopes that the arrival of Digi, a fourth mobile operator in Belgium, will increase competition between the various players.
