More than 700 Airbus subsidiary employees in France fell ill following the company’s Christmas meal, French health authorities reported on Friday.

Hundreds of workers experienced symptoms such as vomiting and severe diarrhoea. The incident affected employees at Airbus Atlantic which constructs pilot and passenger seats.

The festive gathering was held on 14 December at the company restaurant within Airbus Atlantic’s Montoir-de-Bretagne plant in western France. Details of the menu have not been released though health authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of this mass food poisoning incident.

Airbus Atlantic is a subsidiary of the world's largest aircraft maker, Airbus, and employs 15,000 people in five countries.
