From 1st January 2024, mutual insurers will no longer be able to offer their members the opportunity to create prenuptial savings plans.
However, existing contracts will continue until they expire.
Prenuptial savings are saving schemes that allow a small sum of money to be saved annually. The yearly contributions in these saving schemes stood between €18 and €48, made once a year between the beneficiary’s 14th and 26th birthdays.
When the person either got married, submitted a declaration of legal cohabitation to the municipality, or reached the age of 30 years, he or she would then receive the capital saved plus interest.
