A large portrait of Romelu Lukaku at Lierse Kempenzonen’s youth pitch in Kessel, near Nijlen, has been defaced with racist graffiti, reported by several media outlets.

Lukaku, the all-time top scorer for the Red Devils, once played for the club’s youth team. The Challenger Pro League club has reported the incident to the police.

The perpetrator(s) may have been captured on security cameras.

In late November 2023, in a separate incident, banners featuring Lukaku, Nico Van Kerckhoven, Matz Sels and others – all former youth players – were torn down. At that time, the cameras were faulty.
