This month, the Cité Miroir is celebrating its tenth anniversary at the site of the former Bains et Thermes de la Sauvenière, and an array of activities has been prepared for the occasion.

The Cité Miroir was first opened on 14 January 2014, in the heart of Liège, where the old baths and hot spring were previously located. The historic facilities – which were forced to close in 2000 due to non-compliance with safety standards – have since been preserved and restored through an initiative by the non-profit Territoires de la Mémoire, to create a public space devoted to discussions around citizenship and democracy.

Managed by the non-profit Mnema, Cité Miroir aims to serve as a cultural space dedicated to encounters, exchanges, and artistic and democratic proposals. Since it opened, over 700,000 visitors have frequented its exhibition and performance spaces.

A range of activities is taking place on 27 and 28 January to celebrate the decade milestone. The organisers promise "visits, theatre, concerts, meetings – basically a snapshot of what we do everyday in our various spaces, but paying particular attention to young audiences and low prices."

"The accessibility of culture has always been our priority. We have applied this pricing policy since the beginning and we have never increased our theatre ticket prices in ten years," stated Mnema.

Over the anniversary weekend, several activities will be offered for free, including access to the exhibitions 'Human Stakes', 'Never Again!' and 'In Struggle!'
