A Belgian man tragically died on Tuesday after falling at the Tignes ski resort in the French Alps.
The Federal Public Service for Foreign Affairs in Belgium confirmed the reports from multiple French media outlets on Wednesday.
An investigation has been initiated to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident. Local authorities have also contacted the Belgian Embassy in Paris due to the nationality of the bereaved.
Rescue services reportedly arrived swiftly at the scene, however, the victim was unconscious and not breathing. A helicopter from the French Air Service (Saf) was deployed, but the man could not be saved and he sadly passed away at the scene.
To assist those affected, a psychological support unit has been established for the loved ones of the victim.
