Union Saint-Gilloise will play Turkish side Fenerbahçe in the next round of the UEFA Conference League after triumphing over Eintracht Frankfurt in the return leg of the playoffs, winning 1-2 (2-4 on aggregate).

This surprise win propelled Union Saint-Gilloise into the last round of 16 in the Conference League. This followed last week’s 2-2 draw in the first leg of the playoffs at Astrid Park in Anderlecht.

The Belgium club dominated the match in Germany, with decisive goals from Cameron Puertas and Dennis Eckert in the 47th and 80th minutes, before Frankfurt pulled a goal back, with the game ending 2-4 on aggregate for Union.

Union's qualification irked a section of Eintracht Frankfurt's supporters, who tried to storm the away end where the Union fans were at the end of the match, warranting a police intervention.

The Brussels side joins Club Brugge, the other Belgian club to reach the last 16 of the competition, who topped their group in the autumn.

On Friday afternoon, the draw was held at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. Club Brugge will face Norway's Molde in the last 16 of the Conference League, while Union fans will get the chance to travel to Istanbul in their match against Fenerbahçe.

The first-leg matches will kick off on 7 March, with return games scheduled a week later on 14 March.
