Police have issued a search notice for the disappearance of a 14-year-old girl who was last seen at Gent-Sint-Pieters train station on 8 February.

Zehra Yüksel, a 14-year-old girl from Welveghem (West Flanders), was last seen at Gent-Sint-Pieters train station on 8 February, according to police.

"Zehra is 1 metre 68 tall, of normal build and has long brown hair," police said in a statement. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing black trousers and a black T-shirt with white writing on the front, as well as a black hoodie and white trainers.

Police are now circulating a search notice at the request of the West Flanders Public Prosecutor's Office.

The girl's parents noticed on Wednesday 7 February that she had disappeared, according to De Morgen. A day later, she was seen by her grandfather at Gent Sint-Pieters station, but when Yüksel caught sight of him, she ran off and has been missing ever since.

The girl is asked to contact her family to reassure them. If you have seen Zehra Yüksel or know of her whereabouts, please contact the police via email: opsporingen@police.belgium.eu. You can also respond via the freephone number 0800/30300.
