The lifeless body of a driver was discovered at the TEC depot in Verlaine, in the province of Liège, the public prosecutor’s office said on Thursday morning, confirming a report in L’Avenir.

The newspaper claims that it was murder, but the public prosecutor’s office has not corroborated this. TEC drivers at the Verlaine depot discovered the lifeless body of one of their colleagues on their premises.

"When a bus driver went on duty at 06:15 on Thursday, he discovered a lifeless body lying on the ground in a pool of blood in the office. It was murder," writes L’Avenir.

His colleagues tried in vain to resuscitate the victim and called the emergency services. The public prosecutor was informed of the facts. The forensic laboratory has been sent to the scene, while a forensic pathologist is expected to arrive later this morning.

"We have been informed of the facts, but we are awaiting for the analysis results from the crime scene before releasing any further information," a spokesperson for the Liège Public Prosecutor’s Office told Belga.
