US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit both Brussels and Leuven next week.

Blinken will attend a NATO foreign ministers' meeting next Wednesday to mark the alliance's 75th anniversary on 4 April.

The top US diplomat will hold meetings on the sidelines with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.

He is also scheduled to attend a trilateral meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian and EU leaders during his visit to Brussels.

Both Armenia and Azerbaijan claim control of Nagorno-Karabakh, a land-locked region within Azerbaijan that has operated as a de facto independent Armenian state since 1994. A long-frozen conflict between the two former Soviet states broke out again in 2023, resulting in the displacement of over 100,000 Armenians. The crisis has not been resolved despite ongoing negotiations.

Blinken will also attend a US-EU Council on Trade and Technology in Leuven.

Prior to engagements in Belgium, Blinken will stop off in France for a meeting with President Emmanuel Macron, where support for Ukraine and "efforts to prevent escalation in Gaza" will be the main areas under discussion. This marks a rare trip to Paris for the US Secretary of State, who speaks French fluently but has not visited the country in almost two years.
