A human arm was discovered on Thursday morning by a cyclist on a towpath in Avelgem, West Flanders.
The cyclist made his gruesome discovery on a path along the Scheldt. The identity of the victim is not yet known. It is also not known how the arm ended up on the towpath.
The police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office are investigating.
A forensic pathologist has been appointed and the public prosecutor’s office is investigating the case. The Missing Persons Unit is also involved.
