Belgian fisherman discovers explosive device in Wavre river

An explosive device was uncovered by a fisherman in the Dyle river in Wavre (Walloon Brabant) on Monday afternoon.

Whilst fishing in the Dyle on Monday, a man retrieved an explosive item from the river. The Walloon Brabant firefighters and local police were alerted just before 13:00, and called to the scene at Boulevard de l'Europe in Wavre.

The Service for the Removal and Destruction of Explosive Devices (SEDEE) was also called in to handle the removal of the uncovered object.

The SEDEE did not disclose specific information regarding the device.
