E-scooter accidents on the increase in Flanders

Last year, 49 people were seriously injured and three killed in accidents involving electric scooters in Flanders, according to figures from Mobility Minister Annick De Ridder.

With both shared and privately owned scooters becoming increasingly popular, the number of accidents is also increasing.

In 2020, only 183 accidents were recorded. By 2024, the number had risen to 847.

Moreover, there are more injuries, both minor and serious.

Last year, there were 795 minor injuries and 49 serious ones.
