Brussels' public transport network STIB has unveiled its annual report for 2022, with the company's CEO Brieuc de Meeûs claiming that they have neared pre-pandemic levels.

337.7 million journeys were recorded by STIB last year, carrying 84% of the total number of commuters that took public transport in 2019 before the outbreak of Covid-19.

According to STIB, this figure reaches 96-98% if you remove the number of travellers who have started working from home as a result of the pandemic.

STIB also sold more tickets and monthly subscriptions in 2022, especially for commuters under the age of 25 who can receive their abonnement (subscription) for just €12 a year.
