Several Eurostar trains between Paris and Brussels will be cancelled this weekend due to an SNCF strike in France, the French national railway operator announced on Wednesday.

Only half of SNCF's high-speed TGV trains will run between Friday 15 February and Sunday 18 February. Priority will be given to trains to and from ski resorts.

International services will be impacted too, albeit minimally. The company says 90% of its continental trains and 80% of its trains to and from London will remain in operation.

Eurostar is encouraging customers to reschedule their departure day or time free of charge, or to request a refund.

Three in four SNCF train conductors will participate in the strike. Trade unions Sud-Rail and CGT say employees feel "deceited" and "humiliated" by the company's failure to uphold previous agreements aiming to improve working conditions.

While the strike has little impact on passengers travelling from Belgium to the United Kingdom, it is predicted to disrupt domestic French passengers considerably as school holidays are in full swing.
