Brussels police were called to the busy shopping street Avenue Louise on Monday evening with witnesses describing a threatening man, equipped with what appeared to be a sort of a spear.
"The object is described in the report as a medieval type weapon, probably a spear," Olivier Slosse, police spokesperson said.
"The police had to use pepper spray to be able to deal with the man. He was arrested and deprived of his liberty. No one was injured," Slosse added.
"For the moment, the circumstances of the facts are not determined."
