All 19 municipalities in the Brussels Region now use MyPermit Environment, an online portal for handling administrative procedures relating to environmental permits, Brussels Environment announced on Tuesday.
MyPermit Environment was launched three years ago. Since then, 40% of municipal applications have been submitted through the portal, the Brussels administration noted. This figure is continually increasing.
Until recently, only three municipalities in the capital (Anderlecht, Evere and Ixelles) had not yet adopted the portal. Now, it is being used across all 19 Brussels municipalities.
MyPermit Environment allows users to apply for environmental permits for classified installations, request extensions to continue activities, modify installations and operational conditions, and obtain specific permits for regulated construction and activities.
By going digital, municipalities aim to simplify users' daily tasks while making processing more efficient. The platform simplifies the selection of classified installations, manages documents and applications' progress, provides access to maps affected by activities such as Natura 2000 or Soil Inventory, and includes a personalised interactive form, according to Brussels Environment.
Starting in 2025, MyPermit Environment will gradually replace the easyPermit forms for the electronic submission of applications, providing a unified and efficient solution, the authority said.
