From 1 February 2025, most ticket prices for the Brussels public transport company STIB will increase by nearly 5%, affecting fares for metros, trams and buses in the Belgian capital.

The increases were confirmed by the office of outgoing Brussels Mobility Minister Elke Van den Brandt. The fare hike will be based on the change in the consumer price index between April 2023 and September 2024, plus rounding, according to the minister's office.

A single journey ticket will rise from the current rate of €2.20 to €2.30, while a one-day ticket will increase from €8 to €8.40.

Brupass products, allowing travel across all public transport networks within the Brussels region, will see a smaller increase of 1.5% to 3.8%. A single journey will go from €2.60 to €2.70, and a one-day ticket will rise from €9.10 to €9.50.

Monthly public transport passes will cost €55, up from €52. Annual passes will increase from €520 to €550.

Preferential rates, such as school passes, youth passes for those aged 18-24, senior passes (at €12 per year), and rates for people with BIM status (on social benefits) will not be affected by this increase, the minister's office and STIB confirmed.

The fare adjustment is part of the management contract signed in December 2023 between the Brussels public transport operator and the outgoing Brussels Government.

The price increases follow a similar rise of around 5% last September, after a decade-long price freeze.
