Seeing drug dealers sell their products in plain sight has become a daily occurrence for residents in some Brussels neighbourhoods. In one Saint-Gilles district, two sellers have even moved into a bank branch to do their business.
Two drug dealers moved into the Beobank branch on Chaussée d'Alsemberg near the Barrière de Saint-Gilles, Bruzz reported based on sightings by a resident.
The Saint-Gilles local saw on Wednesday morning that the pair were using the interior space of the bank branch as a sales outlet. They were selling drugs in plain sight, even while schoolchildren were passing by.
When contacted for a comment, Beobank said there were no indications or reports of drug dealers at that location.
However, the banking company did add that homeless people sometimes seek refuge in the entrance hall. "They are systematically addressed and asked to leave."

It added that specific security measures are in place at bank branches, such as security cameras, fixed opening hours and regular checks. "We obviously remain alert at all times and encourage our employees to always report suspicious situations. This way, we can always take appropriate measures or notify the security services, if necessary."
Nevertheless, Beobank called on people entering the branch to be vigilant.
