Over 100 construction sites across Belgium will open to the public on Sunday, 25 May as part of the 18th edition of Open Construction Site Day, announced the construction federation Embuild on Wednesday.

Visitors can explore the sites for free, both in person and virtually.

“Our aim is to showcase how innovative construction can be and how we offer sustainable solutions in housing, mobility, and climate,” stated Embuild CEO Niko Demeester.

The event features various projects, including the construction of the new Antwerp detention centre, the Scheldt tunnel, and the renovation of the Central Station metro in Brussels.

Sustainability-focused projects like those in Han-sur-Lesse will also be highlighted, along with cultural and historical sites under renovation, such as the KANAL-Centre Pompidou museum in Brussels and the Grand Theatre of Verviers.

A full list of sites, visit times, and access conditions is available on the organiser’s website.

The previous edition attracted 55,000 in-person visitors and 215,000 virtual participants.
