A person has been arrested and handed over to the Brussels public prosecutor, suspected of instigating a shooting at the Midi station on Sunday evening, shortly after 21:15, as confirmed by the prosecutor’s office following a report by Sudinfo.
According to the media outlet, the suspect was identified by a police patrol during an investigation into violent incidents linked to punitive actions by youths in retaliation for an attack involving Club Brugge hooligans. A group of Bruges supporters was targeted by gunfire, with one individual shot in the ankle. The incident was captured both by a surveillance camera and an eyewitness at the scene.
The violence erupted shortly before the Belgian Cup final between Club Brugge and RSC Anderlecht. Supporter groups clashed in several areas of the capital, escalating tensions. These tensions persisted after the final whistle, with further incidents reported in the Brussels metro involving Bruges supporters and locals.
In total, police made 61 administrative arrests and two judicial arrests. Approximately 80 people were injured, including four police officers.
