Amid unclear circumstances, a detonation on Rue Neuve in Brussels seriously injured one person early Tuesday afternoon, reported by the Brussels Fire Department and the Brussels/Ixelles police.
An ambulance was dispatched with paramedics assisting the victim, whose state of health remains unknown and is yet to be thoroughly assessed. "The firefighters responded to this incident at 12:30," said spokesperson Walter Derieuw. "It is not yet clear whether a firearm, fireworks, or another cause caused the explosion."
The local police have started investigating the events and installed security perimeters in parts of the pedetrian street until the circumstances of the incident are clear.
