Gunshots rang out shortly before 15:00 on Monday afternoon at Place du Conseil in Anderlecht, as confirmed by local police and reported by BX1.
Early reports suggest that no one fell victim to the shots fired at a hairdresser's shop window. The bullets followed each other in quick succession, implying a potential electric firearm usage. A ballistic expert will be deployed on-site to investigate the circumstances of the event.
"Shots were fired this afternoon in the direction of a hair salon on the Place du Conseil in Anderlecht," says public prosecutor's office spokesperson Laura Demullier. "A suspect fled on a scooter and is being actively sought. According to initial findings, there were no injuries."
BX1 has reported on three suspects escaping via the scooters. Brussels South police informed the public prosecutor and established a security perimeter to facilitate a thorough investigation. The Place du Conseil has seen increased criminal activity in recent times, including two shooting incidents in the past two months in a night shop and a café, respectively. Whether there is any correlation between the incidents will be looked into by the prosecutor's office.
