Café Time Out in Molenbeek, where terrorists were alleged to have plotted the 2015 terror attacks in Paris, was locked down for an indefinite period after the police found illegally possessed substances in the building on 18 July, according to Sudinfo.
It was a customer who reported the presence of firearms in the establishment, which prompted a swift police intervention. Guns were not found, but the search revealed quantities of different narcotics and tear gas in the café, which is banned in Belgium. The decision was made immediately to close down the place for potentially facilitating drug use.
The suspect for the possession of narcotics was arrested on the spot as he was subject to probationary measures preventing him from being there, while the authorities conducted an extensive search on the bar manager.
The Brussels Prosecutor's Office confirmed the news to Sudinfo.
Exactly how long the café will be closed remains unclear. Police have to compile a file on the incident and forward it to the mayor, who can then decide to keep the ban for up to six months before the bar can reopen.
