Young man injured in latest Anderlecht shooting

An 18-year-old man was wounded in a shooting on Friday night in the Brussels municipality of Anderlecht, according to the local police of the Brussels South zone.

The incident occurred shortly before midnight at the intersection of the Chaussée de Mons and Rue Dr De Meersman. An unidentified person reportedly fired several shots at two young people, one of whom was hit. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the arm and was taken to hospital.

The prosecutor’s office has been informed of the incident.

This is the second shooting in the area this week. Earlier, on Tuesday night, a 34-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds in Rue Dr De Meersman. There is currently no indication linking the two incidents.

Besides the two incidents, gunshots were also fired in Molenbeek earlier this week. No one was injured and no perpetrators have been found to date.
