The local Brussels-West police (Jette/Ganshoren/Koekelberg/Sint-Jans-Molenbeek/Sint-Agatha-Berchem) seized a substantial amount of counterfeit cigarettes, cannabis resin, and illegal medication in Anderlecht last Monday.

On 4 August 2025, around midnight, a patrol from the Brussels-West police zone was alerted by a man behaving suspiciously in an alleyway on Zonnebloemstraat, Anderlecht, according to the police.

The alley provides access to garages, and the man was observed watching the patrol and trying to conceal himself. Police officers investigated and found one of the garage doors fully open.

The man appeared nervous and attempted to close the garage door quickly as officers approached. He was accompanied by a woman who pretended to be his partner. Inside the garage, officers discovered 2,140 cases of counterfeit cigarettes packed in 50 cardboard boxes, 26 slabs of cannabis resin totalling 2,530 grams, 764 tablets of illegal medication, and €695.

A subsequent search of the suspect’s residence uncovered an additional 500 tablets of Pregabalin, a sedative medication also used recreationally as a drug.

Both suspects were interrogated and subsequently presented to the public prosecutor. The man has been placed under arrest by the investigating judge, while the woman has been released.
