Two separate investigations are underway to shed light on two shooting incidents that occurred last week in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed on Monday.
The first concerns shots fired shortly before 16:00 on Saturday on Rue de l’École in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean.
The police responded quickly and found a 20-year-old man wounded and in possession of weapons. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
Several shell casings were found at the scene, and a 23-year-old suspect was arrested.
The Federal Police laboratory and a ballistics expert were called in to investigate. The Public Prosecutor's Office has stated that no further comments will be made at this stage in the interests of the investigation.
The second investigation is looking into shots fired in the early hours of Friday morning, just after midnight, on Rue de la Borne, also in Molenbeek.
The police found several bullet holes in a house and numerous shell casings on the ground. No injuries were reported.
The perpetrator or perpetrators fled the scene and are still being actively sought. The Federal Police laboratory and a ballistics expert have been called to the scene.
The circumstances surrounding these events are still under investigation.
