Two people were injured in a stabbing incident at Brussels-Midi station late Wednesday night, according to reports from VRT Nieuws, confirmed by the Brussels public prosecutor’s office.
The incident occurred on 21 August around 1:25 at the intersection of Zuidlaan and Boulevard Maurice Lemonnier. Police intervened during a fight taking place in a public area, said public prosecutor’s office spokesperson Maryam Benayad.
“Both individuals appeared to be under the influence. One suffered multiple visible knife wounds, while the other sustained various injuries. They were both transported to the hospital for treatment,” Benayad added.
Following their hospitalisation, the two injured individuals were detained and will be questioned to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident, the spokesperson confirmed.
“No sharp or dangerous objects were found during a search at the scene,” the statement concluded.
