Made in Asia, a pop-culture and anime festival hosted by event organiser Heroes, will come to the Brussels Expo Centre on 8-10 April, bringing manga, anime, videogame, YouTube, and cosplay fans together for three days of fun and activities.

Spread across five large exhibition halls, the festival has a packed-out line-up of events, workshops, and events for spectators.

Last year, the event attracted around 56,000 participants. This year is set to be even bigger. This festival will include video game tournaments, cosplay competitions, live panels, language workshops, design courses, and more.

"We found that after the long corona break, our community was eager to return to the festival," said Anthony Audenaerd, director of the event, "we are seeing an incredible desire from our visitors to express their passion for Asian pop culture and internet phenomena in 2022."

Fans of anime, manga, and cartoons can expect appearances by manga artists, French-language anime voice-over artists, “girl idol” group appearances, and traditional Japanese music groups.

Cosplay enthusiasts will be able to enter into individual and group contests, as well as cosplay catwalks, to showcase their talent and craftsmanship.

This year’s festival will also feature a “little Asia” cultural space, allowing attendees to “travel from Brussels Expo to Japan.” The cultural area will teach participants how to play classic household games such as Go and Mah-jong, act in Chinese shadow theatre, create origami, and even learn some Japanese.

In total, the festival will feature nearly 300 different stalls and locations for participants to explore.

Throughout the exposition centre, food stalls will offer dishes from China, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, and North East India. Manga and anime lovers will find stalls to buy imported Japanese goods, manga, anime, posters, t-shirts, merchandise, and more.

Tickets are still available for general admission for all days of the festival and can be purchased online at Made In Asia’s website.
