Child injured after being hit by a bus while cycling in Ganshoren

A child was injured and taken to hospital after being hit by a bus in Ganshoren on Monday morning, Brussels firefighters have confirmed.

The incident occurred shortly before 08:00 on Avenue Charles-Quint, near the Basilix shopping centre.

According to emergency services, the child was riding a bicycle when the collision took place.

An ambulance from Dilbeek and a mobile emergency medical unit from the Military Hospital in Neder-over-Heembeek were dispatched to the scene.

The young cyclist was transported to hospital for treatment.

Authorities said the child's injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The exact circumstances surrounding the collision remain unclear and are expected to be investigated.
